Stem Education in Nigeria

Reviewing the STEM Education trajectory in Nigeria, present and future. STEM Education has contributed to the nation’s development in different sectors such as health, agriculture, telecommunications in the past.

However, STEM Education in Nigeria is presently facing some challenges inhibiting its development.

These problems includes inadequate funding, low research output, poor quality teachers, etc. In the 21st century workforce technical skills alone are no longer enough to effectively battle the peculiar challenges faced by business, hence, employers are seeking to recruit personnel with core competence in skills like critical thinking, problem solving, analytical, computation etc.

The bulk of the teaching method used in the country is insufficient to help learners develop these skills.
